inspiration from maggie taylor

i discovered maggie taylor's work when I was wandering through print making lit in the ultimate field guide to photography this week. the photo put with maggie's story was instantly unsettling - a girl in dress of bees, hence the name of the piece: Girl with a Bee Dress.
this woman's style is unlike anything i've every seen, it's kind of creepy, but at the same time it's alluring too. even the faces she uses are from another time, the ones you'd see on the wall at a cracker barrel.
taylor's pieces are born by scanning images she finds and photos she takes of still-life. using photoshop, she pretty much creates the definition of whimsical.
when maggie taylor is "at work," she makes what she dreams of - and that's definitely the best job in the world.

i like it.

  1. Very cool...her work reminds me of clips from classic Monty Python episodes.
